"Let us arise and go now into the interior dark night of the soul's still bowery and find ourselves anew where subways stall and wait"
Asleep - The Smiths.
Sing me to sleep,
Sing me to sleep,
And then leave me alone,
Don’t try to wake me in the morning,
‘Cause I will be gone,
Don’t feel bad for me,
I want you to know,
Deep in the cell of my heart,
I will feel so glad to go.
This book (and the movie) are absolutely incredible…
So I just spent the last three days as the Rector for K79, and I have to say, this time around was almost as moving and emotional as my first Kairos experience in February.
There’s just something so profound in leading, because it really helps give you a concrete example of how to live your fourth day. It takes all the concepts that you talk and reflect on for the retreat and presents them in nice little packages like “here’s me, an example of true discipleship!”
I’m excited to see how the Kaibros live their fourth day after the Kaihigh fades (we put a special emphasis on that in the Fourth Day talk (We do that as a collective leader talk)).
My favorite quote from the Fourth Day talk was given by a kid named Zach that said “I like to think of the Fourth day as twofold. First it is the literal ‘Fourth Day’ of the retreat, because the retreat is only three days, but it’s also us sending you forth to take everything you’ve learned and utilize it in your everyday life.”
So I go forth into this world again, kaihigh as ever, living the fourth and praying for another Kairos opportunity to come and snap me back into those three peaceful, reflective, and incredible days away from the world to share stories and forge new friendships…
I think I might hire this person to make HankGames compilations. I laughed mah butt off.
Oh Hank…you’re so bad at game…
